Day 12
Psalm 27:9
Do not hide your face from me.
Do not turn your servant aside in anger.
Reclaming Balance
The Five of Air represents a no-win situation, grudges that cause more harm than good, battles that are not worth your energy. It invites a letting go, a release, a reset.
Sounding familiar?
Today is the fourth time in six days that we have seen an Air (also known as Swords) card show up as our wake-up call. According to Rachel Pollack, "an excess of swords cards needs more than any other suit to be balanced with experiences and attitudes from the other suits elements."
As those of you who participated in the Roots in Spirit elemental Tarot course know, the element of Air is heady: rational, logical, mental energy.
It makes sense that we've seen this element show up again and again, as we turn our minds toward teshuvah and try to think our way into forgiveness, adjustment, atonement.
But thinking all by itself is unbalanced, and it can't tell us everything anyway.
Logical, rational thought is by far not the only way to know.
So for today (and you might also want to bring this to your sabbath day this week),
your wake-up call is inviting you to get out of your head.
“An excess of swords cards needs more than any other suit to be balanced with experiences and attitudes from the other suits elements.
”
Embodiment
All of our battles, however physical or non-physical, show up in our bodies.
The arguments, the anxiety, the grudges... they are held in our muscle tension, our stomachaches, our migraines.
Invite your body into conversation today. If your relationship with your body tends toward hostile, that's worth noting, before you even begin. As much as possible, engage this conversation from a place of open curiosity and compassion. Take it in small pieces if you need too. But the mind must be balanced with body and soul.
What does your body want today, what does it need, how can you care for this body that is not separate from your essence?
A nap?
Another glass of water?
Some ice cream or fresh vegetables?
A hot bath?
Where does it hurt?
Where are the tight places, the cold places, the tingly places?
What feels good, solid, strong?
What is warm and soft and comfortable?
What does your body want you to know?
“Sit with your body, quietly, and let it tell you truths today.”
