Day 16
Teach me your way, Adonai, and lead me on a level path because of my enemies.
Psalm 27:11
“
At the year’s turn,
in the days between
we step away
from what we know
wall and window
roof and road
into the spaces
we cannot yet name
cloud and sky
cloud and wings
Slowly the edges
begin to yield
the hard places
soften
wind and clover
reed and river
The gate to forgiveness opens.
”
Opening the Heart
The Eight of Water invites us to leave behind those things we know--the familiar walls and windows, roofs and roads--and ask to be led on a level, if unfamiliar, path.
The path you will find leads inward, toward self-knowledge, deep honesty, and the strength to face all enemies.
But in order to discover it, a comfortable situation must be left behind. This is a particular challenge, and requires strong support.
When the cups are mostly upright, it can be tough to seek a new path. The saying goes, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"
But not broken is not the same as thriving, and you must know that you deserve more.
What are you holding on to right now, not because it is fulfilling or right,
but because it is easy?
Where are you refusing to rock the boat which may need overturning,
because you are afraid?
When will "everything's fine" stop being enough?
When will you seek joy and oneness on the level path?
Turning Toward Life
There is a past for which you must be forgiven, and a past which you must forgive. We've spent most of this month gazing backward toward that past, determining what must be released in order to turn ourselves toward our fullest lives.
Now it is time to look a little bit closer to home. In addition to the past so in need of forgiveness, there is also a present in need of release.
Companions on the Path
These are not easy questions, nor easy situations to face.
The idea of shaking up your comfortable life may be breathtakingly terrifying. It could also be liberating, but I'm betting if you feel that way, you don't need this prompt.
If you need support processing what comes up this week (or any time this month), I'm right on the other side of an email. You are beloved.
