Day 25

Lend me your hand and we’ll conquer them all
but lend me your heart and I won’t let you fall.
Lend me your eyes, I’ll change what you see
but your soul you must keep, totally free.
. . .
In these bodies we live, in these bodies we will die
Where you invest your love, you invest your life.

— Mumford and Sons, "Awake My Soul"

Waking up to the rest of your life

This Three of Fire card shows a grounded figure flanked on each side by strength and purpose, gazing out over their emotional landscape as the sun sets on this season.

It's time to call home the ships you've been sending out this month. The reflection and action you have done, the lessons you have learned about yourself in the process.

How will you incorporate them into the rest of your life? It is often easy to become zealous for change as the year turns, or in other big transition moments. But the test of teshuvah is in everyday life.

It's time now to begin the process of coming back out of your shell. Your turned-inward face must now turn back to face the rest of the world, and shine your new illumination on it.

How are have you been changed by this season of teshuvah?

How will your change impact your everyday life? How will it affect the world around you?

Compassionate One, remember

we are Your children

help us to know again

that we are cradled

during these awesome days

of changing light

we want to return

to Your lap, to Your arms

remind us how to believe

that we are loved

not for our achievements

but because we are Yours

as the moon of Elul wanes

and the new year rushes in

hear us with compassion

enfold us, don’t let us go
